Is Dad Just Being a Hater!? Or Have We Gone Too Far!!!

Episode Summary

In this episode, we discuss what it means to be exceptional and the rewards it can bring.

Episode Notes

In today’s episode, I am joined by Eddie and my dad for a very intriguing episode that arose from a recent family controversy we had.

The controversy arose out of the huge contracts that modern-day professional athletes receive.

Athletes are now signing contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars, with a considerable portion of the money being guaranteed.

But is this level of compensation justified?

On the one hand, Eddie and I believe that the market is rewarding these athletes for their exceptional skills and their captivating performances. They are inspiring and entertaining, and the market seems to validate that.

On the other hand, Dad argues that nobody is worth that amount of money, especially when their contribution to society, according to him, is not as significant as other careers. He further says we risk pricing out the average American family away from professional sports.

This is an interesting debate that you don’t wanna miss, including some lessons on meritocracy and generational perspectives.
